34 Parts of a Chariot : Rath Yatra Special

When we talk of the world renowned Jagannath Rath Yatra, the first thing that comes to our minds is the three chariots that carry the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balarama and Subhadra from the Jagannath Puri Temple to the Gundicha temple and back.

The name of chariot of Lord Jagannath is known as Nandighosha Ratha, the name of the Chariot of Lord Balabhadra is Taladhwaja Ratha while the name of the chariot of Devi Subhadra is Darpadalana Ratha.

Every year, the three chariots of Balarama, Subhadra and Jagannatha are newly constructed with wood of specified trees like phassi, dhausa, etc and it takes around a months time to built them.

Each of these three chariots has 34 parts as described below.
